Why PwC Canada

Our global network of nearly 2,000 sustainability professionals, including more than 150 in Canada, is recognized as a leader in delivering ESG business services and helping companies integrate sustainability into their strategy, acquisitions, financing, transformation and reporting.

Our cross-disciplinary community of solvers from strategy, tax, deals, legal, people, assurance, reporting, data and tech can help you incorporate sustainability principles into everything you do.

Our human-led, tech-enabled approach to ESG transformation and reporting combines strategic thinking with strong technical capabilities from our ecosystem of Alliance relationships. We take a vendor-agnostic approach to tailoring solutions that fit your specific needs and work with the technology you already have in place, helping you achieve productivity gains and cost savings.

Our long-established sustainability expertise includes more than 20 years’ experience helping companies with their ESG reporting.

Our deep background in assurance and financial reporting can help you understand the relevant regulatory requirements and standards affecting your company and enhance the reliability of the ESG data you disclose to stakeholders.

Our commitment to further fostering ESG in Canada includes sharing our insights through research, thought leadership, industry publications, roundtable discussions and business events. And our involvement with leading standard-setting bodies helps shape the future of sustainability reporting and prepare both public-sector and business leaders for new disclosure requirements.

Measuring our own ESG performance

Like the organizations we work with, we’re on our own sustainability journey at PwC Canada. We include measurable ESG targets in our Trust Roadmap and hold ourselves accountable by sharing quantifiable metrics in regular updates on our progress.

Advancing important conversations

We’ve worked with the World Economic Forum to both develop carbon markets as well as align global reporting standards, which culminated in the establishment of the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB). We also helped the Canadian Chamber of Commerce shape energy transition policy recommendations and advance Canada’s role in the global market for critical minerals. And our global Centre for Nature Positive Business brings together expertise and capabilities while expanding nature capabilities across the world in areas such as biodiversity, water, regenerative agriculture and forestry.

Net zero by 2030

Our net-zero commitment in Canada includes a validated science-based target to reduce absolute greenhouse gas emissions by 50% compared to our 2019 fiscal year. We’ve allocated carbon budgets to each of our business units and set a 50% business travel cap to mitigate emissions from air travel.

Workforce representation

We set and disclose workforce representation targets to promote greater diversity on our teams. We also engaged an outside research company to strengthen the quality of our data on workplace equity, inclusion, diversity and belonging. And our firm is home to more than a dozen inclusion networks made up of partners, staff and allies who share common interests, goals and objectives. Elsewhere, we provide our employees with training in support of our Indigenous reconciliation journey and have enhanced our commitment to the Onyx Initiative, which connects Black students and recent graduates to prospective employers like PwC Canada.

Digitally upskilling two million Canadians by 2025

As part of our social impact efforts, we help beneficiaries of our upskilling programs live, learn, work and participate in the digital world. And we increase our impact by sharing our pro-bono capabilities. For example, our technology strategy and transformation team is helping the Equality Fund—an organization responsible for disbursing almost $1 billion in funding to women-led organizations around the world—grow from a startup to a technology-enabled organization over the coming years.
